Job Description

Tasks

  • Diagnose livestock health issues
  • Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses
  • Handling animals
  • Marking livestock as proof of ownership
  • Monitoring animal health
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work
  • Perform livestock feeding
  • Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration
  • Track and report on current feed inventory
  • Treat livestock health issues
  • Weaning
  • Feed and tend animals
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures
  • Maintain financial and production records
  • Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • Maintain livestock performance records
  • Maintain quality control and production records
  • Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens
  • Maintain work records and logs
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry
  • Perform general farm duties
  • Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
  • Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops
